Kat Bury

With 25 years of experience, Kat is a systems thinker and purpose-driven leader with a strategic eye and a deeply human approach. As CEO of The Human Edge, Kat leads the organisation’s strategic growth, business development and partnerships, while advising on the design of mentoring, coaching, leadership and organisation capacity building solutions across diverse sectors and regions.

Kat’s work is rooted in deep listening, collaboration, and trust. She specialises in creating solutions that build confidence, skills, and impact for entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders. Under her leadership, The Human Edge has delivered over 150 programmes, supporting thousands across Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the UK. These initiatives have made a measurable difference in areas such as refugee and micro-entrepreneur livelihoods, entrepreneurship (across all stages and sectors), youth development, women’s empowerment, conservation, and the social sector.

She plays a key role in shaping new opportunities, leading business development and building long-term partnerships with funders including the British Government, European Union, EBRD, UN Women, GIZ, Argidius Foundation, MAVA Foundation and Safaricom. Kat also provides strategic advice to partner organisations and builds networks that enable practical, context-driven solutions.

Her foundation in entrepreneurship—having started and grown two ventures and helped lead her family’s businesses—gives her deep insight into what it takes to scale with purpose and lead through uncertainty. Her approach is further shaped by coach training with CTI and studies at Nottingham Trent Business School, NYU, INSEAD, Columbia, Wharton, and Harvard. She is a former member of Entrepreneurs’ Organisation Kenya and currently a member of Vistage UK.

Outside The Human Edge, Kat enjoys interior design and long walks in nature with her lovable and vocal Bernese Mountain Dog. She is also passionate about wildlife conservation and has adopted five baby elephants.
