Alicja Turner
Curriculum Manager
Alicja is the Curriculum Manager at The Human Edge, where she designs and develops user-focused learning experiences that support mentors, leaders, and changemakers to grow with purpose. She’s particularly interested in the psychology of learning and how people grow through reflecting on experience—drawing inspiration from Nick Shackleton-Jones and many others. She’s co-designed the organisation’s online courses, including Mentoring Skills and Practice, Make the Most of Mentoring, and Running Effective Mentoring Programmes. She delivers online practice sessions, witnessing first-hand how people apply their learning in safe, supported environments.
She’s been part of the organisation since 2009, bringing deep institutional knowledge to complex, multi-country projects with stakeholders from Syrian refugees and Ghanaian innovators to leaders in conservation and circular economies across the Globe. Prior to joining The Human Edge, she worked as a campaign researcher for Global Witness and Article 19, contributing to two published reports on failure of leadership and freedom of expression respectively.
Originally from southern Poland, she works in English, Polish and German. Her commitment to creating space where people feel seen and supported is rooted in her own experience of moving countries and finding her independence early in life, which meant learning to adapt quickly and find belonging in unfamiliar places. In her free time, she can be found skiing in the Dolomites, snorkelling in Croatia, walking the South West of the UK or baking with her two daughters in their home Bristol.
